How to store iced fairy cakes

-If the cake is already iced, it’s best to store it in a covered container in the fridge. This will help keep the icing from drying out or getting too hard. Alternatively, store it in an airtight container.

-If you need to store an uniced cake, make sure it is completely cooled before wrapping it tightly in cling film or aluminium foil. Again, this will help keep the cake fresh and prevent it from drying.

-Fairy cakes are best eaten within a few days of baking, but if you need to store them for longer, they can be frozen. Wrap each cake individually in cling film or aluminium foil, then place them in a freezer

What’s the difference between a fairy cake and a cupcake?

A fairy cake is a small sponge cake that is typically decorated with icing or frosting.

Fairy cakes are typically lighter and more delicate than cupcakes.

A cupcake is a small cake but bigger than a fairy cake that is baked in a cup-shaped mould and is also typically decorated with icing or frosting. Both cakes are often brightly coloured and include decorations such as sprinkles or sugar balls.

What’s the best way to decorate fairy cakes?

The best way to decorate fairy cakes is with icing or frosting. You can use a piping bag and nozzle to create different designs or simply spread the icing or frosting over the top of the cake using a spatula or the back of a teaspoon, which is what I did.

You can add sprinkles, sugar balls, or edible glitter for extra decoration.
