What can I do with pear overload?

If you have too many pears, you can make pear sauce, pear jelly, pear traybakes or pear preserves. You can also give them away to friends and neighbours. Another option is to freeze them for later use. There are plenty of ways to enjoy pears, even if you have too many! I find jarring the pears really easy to do. The only downside is the peeling and coring! Try my Pear and Almond Frangipane tart, it’s mouthwatering!

Storing pears for winter after picking

If you have a glut of pears, you can easily store them for winter. Besides jarring pears, you can also wash and slice the pears, then layer them in a freezer bag with sugar. Make sure to label the bag with the date so you know how long they will keep. Frozen pears will last for up to 6 months in the freezer. When you’re ready to use them, just thaw them overnight in the fridge.
