What is Thai peanut sauce made of?

Thai peanut sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make vegetarian and vegan recipe. This flavorful sauce is made with a combination of fragrant ingredients of red Thai curry paste, coconut milk, peanut butter (crunchy or smooth), brown sugar and vinegar.

Other optional ingredients include both chillies and lime juice, which can also be added to customize the flavour. All these ingredients can easily be found in any grocery store and come together to create a rich and creamy peanut sauce packed full of flavour!

  • 1 Red Pepper
  • 1 Green Pepper
  • 1 Clove of Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 Packet of Noodles
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Spring Onion

Thai Peanut Sauce Ingredients

  • 400 g Coconut Milk
  • 3 tbsp Vinegar
  • 5 tbsp Peanut Butter (Crunchy or smooth)
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 tbsp Red Thai Sauce (or chilli sauce)

How to make vegetarian noodles with Thai peanut sauce

  • Cook the noodles as per the packet instructions and drain. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix the vinegar, brown sugar, peanut butter, soy sauce, Thai sauce and coconut milk together until it’s nice and creamy.
  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the garlic on medium heat. Add the red and green peppers and spring onions and cook for 2 minutes. Add the noodles and pour over the Thai peanut sauce. Mix together, so the noodles are fully coated. Cover with a lid and simmer for 5 minutes or until everything is heated through.
