How to make date and chocolate rice krispie treats
Storage
To store the finished date and chocolate rice krispie bars, simply place them in an airtight container and keep them at room temperature for up to 5 days. If you want them to last longer, you can also store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. When serving, you can cut the bars into pieces using a sharp knife and serve them as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an even more decadent dessert. These bars also make a great dessert for parties or picnics as they are easy to transport and always a crowd-pleaser.
Easy Date And Chocolate Rice Krispie Bars

Ingredients
- 100 g Caster Sugar
- 100 g Margarine
- 175g g Dates (Chopped)
- 25 g Glace Cherries (Quartered)
- 200 g Chocolate (Milk, dark or white)
- 100 g Rice Krispies
Instructions
- Lightly grease and line a brownie tin or small roasting tin.
- Add the sugar and margarine to a heavy-based pan and heat gently until melted.
- Increase the heat and bring the mixture up to the boil. Add the dates and continue to cook for 2 minutes. Take off the heat and stir in the cherries and Rice Krispies and stir until evenly mixed.
- Spoon into the prepared tin and level the surface with the back of a spoon. Melt the chocolate in the microwave (25 seconds at a time).
- Spread the chocolate over the krispie mixture and leave to set. When set cut into bars.
