Marinade for chicken chow mein
Chicken chow mein is one of my favourite take-out dishes. The combination of chicken, noodles, and vegetables in a savoury sauce is irresistible. However, chicken chow mein can be a bit bland if not properly seasoned. That’s why I always make sure to marinate my chicken in a flavorful marinade before cooking.
My marinade for chicken chow mein includes soy sauce, black pepper, vinegar, garlic, ginger, bicarbonate of soda and sesame oil. These ingredients come together to create a delicious and fragrant marinade that really elevates the dish. If you’re looking for a way to take your chicken chow mein to the next level, give this marinade a try!
Why use bicarbonate of soda to marinade chicken
One of the benefits of using bicarbonate of soda to marinade chicken is that it helps to tenderize the meat. This is because the bicarbonate of soda reacts with the acid in the marinade and causes the proteins in the chicken to break down. This makes the chicken more tender and easier to chew.
Bicarbonate of soda can also help to make your chicken taste better. This is because the bicarbonate of soda reacts with the other ingredients in the marinade and creates a more flavourful chicken.
So, if you are looking for a way to tenderize your chicken or add more flavour to it, then consider using bicarbonate of soda as part of your marinade.
Which Noodles Are Best To Use For Chow Mein?
There are many different types of noodles you can use for chow mein, but I prefer lo mein noodles. They are a bit thicker than other noodles, and they hold up well to the sauce and vegetables.
If you can’t find lo mein noodles, you can also use spaghetti, linguine, or even rice noodles. Really, any type of noodle will work in this recipe.
Can I Make This Recipe Vegetarian? -Plain Chow Mein
Yes! If you want to make this recipe vegetarian, which is called a plain chow mein, simply omit the chicken and double the number of vegetables. You can also use tofu in place of the chicken if desired.
Can I Make This Recipe in Advance?
This chicken chow mein is best when served fresh, but you can make it in advance if necessary. Simply cook the noodles, chicken and vegetables according to recipe instructions. Then, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze your chicken and noodles.
When you’re ready to eat, simply reheat the chow mein in a skillet over medium heat until heated through. You may need to add a little bit of water to the pan to prevent the noodles from sticking together.
