What type of bacon for soup
When it comes to bacon, there are a few different types that can be used for bacon and lentil soup. For example, smoked bacon has a delicious smoky flavour that can really add depth to the soup. Alternatively, pancetta bacon is a type of cured bacon that is often used in Italian dishes. It has a slightly salty flavour that can really complement the other flavours in the soup.
Try using streaky bacon or back bacon for a more traditional bacon flavour. For a sweeter bacon flavour, try using maple bacon or applewood bacon. And for a spicy bacon flavour, try using pepper bacon or jalapeño bacon.
Finally, bacon lardons are small pieces of bacon that are perfect for adding a little bit of extra flavour.
No matter what type of bacon you use, it’s sure to add delicious depth of flavour to your soup.
Do I need to pre-soak the red lentils for soup?
Lentils are a type of legume that is typically cooked before eating, and they do not require pre-soaking. This is good news for me because it means that I can save time when making this soup in the future.
