Easy Broccoli And Smoked Ham Cheesy Quiche

Broccoli and smoked ham quiche is a light yet indulgent dish that’s perfect for brunch or a cosy dinner. This comforting meal will have you counting down the days till it’s time to make it again! The broccoli packs in an extra punch of nutrition, while the smoked ham adds a bold smoky flavour on top of a buttery crust.

Serve up this delicious quiche with a generous helping of fresh veggies, and let your taste buds be the judge! With broccoli quiche like this one on the table, there’s no need for any other sides; save them for later in the week. And if broccoli isn’t available, any leafy green, such as spinach, can make an excellent substitute featured in this broccoli and smoked ham quiche.

Ingredients

For a large family quiche, you will need the following ingredients:

Pastry

  • 500 g Plain White Flour
  • 250 g Butter
  • 7 tbsp Water
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Dry Veggie Stock Cube

Quiche Filling

  • 8 Eggs
  • 200 ml Milk
  • 250 g Cheese (any type of cheese)
  • Mixed Herbs (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Paprika
  • 3 slices Smoked Ham (chopped into little squares) or use smoked bacon
  • ½ Broccoli (Florets chopped)

How to make broccoli, ham and cheese quiche

  • Preheat the oven to 180° c Fan/200°c/ 392°F.
  • For the pastry, add butter to the flour and rub in until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add the pepper and stock powder and slowly add in the water until it forms a dough. I prefer to use my electric mixer as there’s less mess.
  • Roll out to about 5mm thick and place in greased quiche dish. (No need to chill in the fridge) Mine is a large dish, so if you have small dishes, it will make 2, but you may need extra filling ingredients.
  • Prick the pastry all over with a fork and blind bake for 10 – 15 mins in the oven until dry and slightly golden.
  • Chop the heads off the broccoli into small pieces and chop the ham into small squares. Set aside.
  • Mix the eggs with the milk in a bowl and add to the pastry case.
  • Add the seasoning and broccoli, and ham and spread out evenly.
  • Top with the grated cheese, paprika and mixed herbs.
  • Bake in the oven for about 35 – 40 mins, depending on the size of your dish. Serve your lovely broccoli quiche hot or cold.

Allowing the broccoli quiche to cool after baking and then wrapping it in tin foil will help it stay fresh. After wrapping it, place the broccoli quiche in an airtight container before putting it in the refrigerator.
