Ingredients
- 6 tbsp Mayonnaise (half fat or full fat)
- 4 tbsp Greek Yoghurt (fat free or full fat)
- 1 Garlic Clove, crushed
- Juice of Half a Lemon
- Salt and Pepper to season
Ingredient Notes
Mayonnaise — The base of this sauce. I use half fat mayonnaise for a lighter version but full fat works brilliantly too and will give a slightly richer, creamier result. Use whichever you prefer!
Greek Yoghurt — Adds a wonderful tang and freshness to the sauce while keeping it nice and light. I use fat free Greek yoghurt but full fat works just as well. Make sure you are using Greek yoghurt rather than natural yoghurt for the best thick, creamy texture.
Garlic — Just one clove of crushed garlic packs a real punch in this sauce! Use fresh garlic for the best flavour — the pre crushed jars just don’t deliver the same fresh, vibrant taste.
Lemon Juice — The juice of half a fresh lemon adds a lovely brightness and tang that cuts through the richness of the mayo and yoghurt beautifully. Always use fresh lemon juice rather than bottled for the best flavour.
Salt and Pepper — Simple but essential! Season to taste at the end to bring all the flavours together.

Storage
Storing Your Garlic Mayo Sauce Store your garlic mayo sauce in an airtight container or jar in the fridge for up to 5 days. Give it a quick stir before using as it may separate slightly after sitting in the fridge.
Can I Freeze Garlic Mayo Sauce? We don’t recommend freezing this sauce as the mayonnaise and yoghurt can split when defrosted and the texture won’t be the same. Luckily it only takes 5 minutes to whip up a fresh batch!
Variations
Want to put your own spin on this versatile sauce? Here are some ideas:
- Extra Garlicky — Add 2 cloves of garlic instead of 1 for a really punchy garlic flavour.

- Make it Spicy — Add a pinch of chilli flakes or a squeeze of sriracha for a bit of heat.
- Lemon and Herb — Add some lemon zest along with the juice and a sprinkle of dried mixed herbs.
- Yoghurt Only — Swap the mayo for more Greek yoghurt for a lighter, tangier version.
- Caesar Style — Add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard and a splash of Worcestershire sauce for a Caesar inspired flavour.

It tasted really great made as directed. We also tried it with the addition of herbs to use it as a dip, IE. dill with fish goujons, Mint with Lamb fillet & Parsley is pretty general but very tasty with most everything. We are totally sold on the recipe as is & also as a dip.
Thanks Martin! Your additions to the dip sound amazing, i’ll definitely try that.
