How To Make Chicken Chow Mein Takeaway Style

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Egg Noodles
  • 600 g Chicken Breast (Cut into strips or chunks)
  • 2 Carrot (Chopped in strips)
  • 150 g Bean Sprouts (1 bag)
  • ¼ Cabbage (Shredded)
  • 2 Garlic Cloves (Chopped)
  • 4 Spring Onions (Chopped)
  • 8 tbsp Vegetable Oil (for frying chicken, veg, and spring onions and garlic)

Marinade For Chow Mein

  • 3 Cloves of Garlic (Crushed)
  • 1 tbsp Ground Ginger (or fresh ginger)
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce (or Tamari Sauce)
  • 2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt

Chow Mein Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (or Tamari)
  • 2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sugar (Brown)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Chilli Sauce
  • ½ tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Cook the noodles as per packet instructions and set them aside.
  • Place the chopped chicken in a bowl and add the ginger, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, pepper, baking soda and salt. Mix thoroughly and set aside until needed.
  • Add all the chow mein sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Set aside.
  • Heat the frying pan or wok with oil on high heat. Fry the chicken until cooked through and set aside.
  • In a clean pan, fry the vegetables in oil - cabbage, bean sprouts and carrots. Set aside.
  • In a clean frying pan, add oil and fry the spring onions for 1 minute before adding the garlic, then fry for another minute. Add the egg noodles and mix through for 2 minutes. Add the chicken, veg, then the sauce and mix thoroughly until heated through and serve.
