Ingredients
  

  • 330 g Self-Raising Flour
  • 220 g Caster Sugar
  • 220 g Soft Margarine
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 200 g Dark Chocolate (melted)
  • 6 tbsp Milk

Instructions
 

  • Heat the oven to 150°c/Gas 2. Grease and base line a deep loose-based tin with baking paper.
  • Put all the ingredients in a food mixer fitted with the paddle attachment and mix on low speed to combine the ingredients, then increase the speed for 1 minute until nice and smooth. If it feels too thick add some more milk to loosen it.
  • Pour into the tin and smooth the top to level. Bake in the oven for about 55 minutes to 1 hour. Remove from the oven and leave to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then turn out on a wire rack. Leave to cool completely.
  • If adding buttercream, gently slice the cake into two halves and evenly spread the buttercream on one half. Add the rest to the top of the cake and finish off with a few sprinkles.
